Letter: Dodger Stadium needs more security

I was talking to my wife about the problem that happened in Dodger Stadium: Two “highly intelligent” Dodger fans almost killed a Giant fan. I’ve always thought there needs to be more security in the stands.

I took my 85-year-old father-in-law to the last game of the season the last time they won the World Series. After the game, we were standing in a line for the restroom. I was standing about two people in front of him.

Two young kids that I know didn’t buy a ticket, robbed him. One pulled up his arms and the other went through his pockets. Not much money, but all the other hard-to-replace items.

Now, this was the last game of the regular season. There were cops all the way around the field, as if the sod was going to be taken. No security in the stands.

We lived in a Chicago suburb for years and went to a lot of sporting events there. They have Andy Frain ushers all through the stands. My wife said that if that happened there, they would have been escorted out of the stadium post-haste.

The worst thing that I ever heard of happening there was when a few nuts got on the field at Sox Park and burned disco records. No one got hurt as far as I know.

Besides, it was a blessing.

I’ve got eight tickets for an upcoming game. I’m bringing the whole family and both sons-in-law, so I’m not expecting any trouble at all.
