The Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival hosts auditions for the annual Shakespeare in the Park series on May 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Canyon Theatre Guild in Newhall.

This year's production is Shakespeare's "As You Like It," set in 1968 summer of love.

The production is co-directed by Kelly and Mark Petrie. The husband and wife team have co-directed many productions together, including their collaboration on "Macbeezy," an original hip-hop adaptation of Shakespeare's "Macbeth." Both Kelly and Mark are long time members of the Knightsbridge Theatre.

Actors interested in auditioning for "As You Like It" are asked to prepare a two-minute Shakespearean monologue. Auditions are open to everyone interested.

High school students are encouraged to apply to the Apprentice Company for the summer festival.

The Canyon Theatre Guild and the Rep East Playhouse have both been producing partners for the Shakespeare Festival.

"As You Like It" opens July 8 and runs Saturdays and Sundays throughout July, at the new home of the festival in Towsley Canyon.

Canyon Theatre Guild is located at 24242 Main St., Newhall 91321.
