Penalties, turnovers and a trick play sealed Canyon's doom on Friday night as the team dropped a 35-24 decision to Thousand Oaks on the road.

The loss evens Canyon's season record at 2-2.

A wild first half saw the Cowboys come back from a 14-7 deficit to take a 17-14 advantage on Tyger Rodriguez's 47-yard field goal with seconds remaining.

The score was set up by a successful Canyon onside kick, immediately after quarterback Jordan Adamczyk hit receiver Kevin Voogt with a 16-yard scoring toss.

In the third quarter, however, the Lancers put up 21 straight points, on a run, a pass and a play in which the Thousand Oaks QB caught a TD pass.

By the time the dust settled, the home team held a 35-17 lead.

Canyon's Adamczyk hit receiver Charlie Cusumano for a touchdown early in the fourth, but more yellow flags and miscues followed and the Cowboys could not cross the end zone again.
