A man who allegedly attempted to steal merchandise from a Canyon Country Rite Aid on Friday wrestled with shop employees in the parking lot before being arrested on suspicion of robbery, authorities said.

The 44-year-old man allegedly tried to steal merchandise from the shop at the 16600 block of Soledad Canyon Road but was taken to the ground by the shop’s employees outside the store before he could get away, said Sgt. Daniel Stanley of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The man injured his arm during the scuffle, Stanley said, and was examined at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital before being booked at the sheriff’s station.
