Snow is currently falling and sticking to the roadway on Interstate 5 near Templin Highway, California Highway Patrol officers said at 6 p.m. Wednesday. While the freeway wasn't closed yet, authorities said it might close soon.

As of 6:10 p.m., CHP officers were directing traffic on I-5 at Templin as snow began to stick.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning Wednesday as several storms are expected to dump approximately 2 more inches of rain on the Santa Clarita Valley by the end of the week.

There is a 50 percent chance of rain Thursday night and Friday morning and drop up to 1.5 inches of rain, according to forecasts.

Temperatures are expected to hit a high of 57 degrees today and dip to a low of 43 degrees tonight.

Snow levels are also expected to drop below 3,500 feet and could fall at the Grapevine along Interstate 5, said Stuart Seto, a weather specialist.

The Santa Clarita Valley, and much of Southern California, was blasted by heavy rains and high winds earlier this week.

More than 7 inches of rain was dumped on the SCV over the weekend, according to past reports.

Seto said while the storms are not directly related, they all have a common factor: tropical winds blowing across Southern California from the south and southwest are carrying a lot of moisture in the air.
