Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies set up crime-scene tape around an area where a body was found in a ravine near Soledad Canyon Road, west of Camp Plenty Road, in Canyon Country on Tuesday.

The body of a man believed to be a transient was found in a Canyon Country ravine Tuesday, Sgt. Derrick Ballentine of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said.

The body was reported at 1:48 p.m. off Soledad Canyon Road, just west of Camp Plenty Road. The man was believed to be in his late 40s, Ballentine said.

His body was found shirtless in a muddy area between the bike trail and railroad tracks near Soledad Canyon Road.

Coroners officials removed the body at about 6:20 p.m.

The man’s identity was not available Tuesday as the investigation continues.
