Agromin will give away 20 tons of compost to Santa Clarita residents during the Earth Arbor Day Festival at Central Park in Saugus on Saturday, April 16.

Compost is available at the festival to residents while supplies last.

Agromin is the organics recycler for Canyon Country, Castaic, Newhall, Saugus, Santa Clarita, Stevenson Ranch and Valencia. The green materials are collected from residents and businesses and delivered to Agromin's Newhall Ranch processing facility. The material is cleaned, chopped and naturally composted. The compost is then made available to farmers, landscapers and consumers.

"Residents who use the compost from Earth Arbor Day are helping the community to become more sustainable," said Agromin CEO Bill Camarillo.

"The compost is made from the grass clippings and leaves put in residents' green recycling containers each week. In other words, what grows in soil eventually returns to the soil. Nothing is wasted. Plus, because of its organic makeup, the compost is packed with nutrients gardens love -- completely free of animal waste, sludge or harmful chemicals."

Agromin is one of the state's largest organic recyclers and processes almost 380,000 tons of wood and green materials each year. Based in Oxnard, Calif., the recycler uses a safe, organic and scientific system to formulate its more than 200 soil products.

Earth Arbor Day Festival hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival has something for all ages, including six interactive zones: Alternative Transportation, Community Organizations, Tree Zone, Energy Zone, Eco Zone, Water Conservation and a Children's Zone.

Central Park is located at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road, Saugus 91350.
