Santa Clarita Christian School took down the defending CIF-SS champions in eight-man football on Saturday, downing Joshua Springs, 54-32.

The Cardinals led the entire game from the time Colin Mayhugh returned the opening kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown to the final whistle.

Joshua Springs cut the lead to 33-26, but the running game of Santa Clarita Christian was too much.

Colin Keoshian ran for four touchdowns and 232 yards on 15carries.

Steven Vorden ran for 75 yards on five carries. He also hooked up with Mayhugh for a 68-yard touchdown play.

Vorden also returned an interception 64 yards for another score.

Cardinal linebacker Russell Gage finished the game with a team-high 20 tackles. Keoshian finished with 19.
