Valencia (1-1) defeated Los Angeles City football champions Birmingham (0-3) at Lake Balboa on Friday night 24-0.
Sophomore Alex Bishop, in for injured quarterback Dominick Solley, was 12-for-21 with a total of 208 yards and two touchdowns.
Senior defensive back Michael Hernandez returned an interception for a touchdown in the second quarter. On the offensive side, he caught a 75-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
During the third quarter, junior Zack Tartabull, also hauled in a 16-yard touchdown strike from Bishop.
Defensively, the Vikings had three interceptions, junior Brock Vereen was responsible for two of the picks.
"The defense shut out a school that is known to be best in their league," said Viking head coach Larry Muir. "It was a great game. The kids played terrific."
Muir expects that Solley, who is currently out with a sprained ankle, to be available for next week's game against Palmdale at Priesz Stadium.
