While it seems the Southern California St. Patrick's Day celebrations are leaning toward the weekend before the holiday, you can still get your corned beef and cabbage and your green beer next Thursday at several local venues. And those weekend events will bring you everything from hard partying to healthy exercise. Here's what we know:
Saturday, March 12
Knights of Columbus St. Patrick's Day Race Tony Cota (661) 259-8346 Starting at 9 a.m., the Knights of Columbus host their 31st St. Patrick's Day Race. The 5K will be held at Central Park this year, at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road in Saugus. Race day registration is $25; $30 with race T-shirt. Entry fee reduced for youths under 17.

South Bay St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival www.hermosabch.org The annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Hermosa Beach begins at 11 a.m. at intersection of Pier and Valley Drive, then moves west to Hermosa Avenue then South on Hermosa to 8th Street. The festival will be held at Pier Plaza. The events are free. Use metered street parking and obey posted signs.

The menu will include corned beef and cabbage, Irish stew, bar menu and kids' menu. Guinness on tap, green beer and featured drinks. No reservations required, families welcome. No cover charge.
