Deputies have made a third arrest on Tuesday evening in connection with the Jan. 8 shooting of a man near Whites Canyon Road and Lone Rock Street in Canyon Country.

Nathaniel Pilkinton, 18, of Canyon Country was taken into custody near Soledad Canyon Road and Golden Oak Road at a local military recruiting office. Pilkinton was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station on a felony charge of Attempted Murder and was held on $500,000 bail.

According to detectives, Pilkinton recently visited a local military recruiting office. Following-up on the tip, detectives visited the office at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and found the suspect at the location. Detectives made an arrest and took Pilkinton into custody.

Last week, two others were arrested for their alleged roles in the Jan. 8 shooting.

The first suspect - Daniel Gonzalez, 20, of Alpine - was booked at the Sheriff's Station on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon and was held on $53,500 bail. Deputies also recovered the vehicle used in the shooting.

A second suspect, 19-year-old Pablo Blanco of Canyon Country, was arrested late last week and was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon and was being held on $50,000 bail.

The incident occurred on Jan. 8, when three male suspects in a dark-colored Ford Mustang reportedly approached a group of three male Hispanic men standing on Lone Rock Street and exchanged words with them.

When one of the men in the street walked toward the car, a passenger in the vehicle allegedly fired at least one shot from a small-caliber handgun. The 19-year-old victim was struck in the upper torso. The shooting occurred in front of a house near the intersection of Lone Rock Street and Deep Tree Road in Canyon Country.

There were no fatalities in the shooting.
