Los Angeles County is launching a Home Energy Makeover Contest enabling six county homeowners to win home energy upgrades.

All entries must be received by March 31. The contest is being held to promote the new Energy Upgrade California program and raise awareness that homeowners now qualify for rebates and incentives of up to $4,500 for implementing energy-saving upgrades to their homes.

Single-family homeowners over the age of 21 are eligible to apply. Twenty semi-finalists are set to receive free home energy assessments to help them determine the best way to make their home more energy efficient. As well, five winners will receive free home energy efficiency upgrades worth an estimated $10,000 each.

The grand prize winner is slated to receive a Toward Zero Energy Use Upgrade, which may include solar panels and be worth an estimated $50,000. For details, visit
