Wisconsin’s attack on collective bargaining affects everyone

What is happening in Wisconsin will affect everyone in the country, including Santa Clarita citizens. The Wisconsin governor received massive donations from the Koch and Bradley brothers. These incredibly wealthy oligarchs want to eliminate any opposition to their plan of destroying unions and the Democratic Party.

Why? Because then the working class in America will have no way to collectively bargain for wages, rights and benefits.
And without union financing, the Democratic Party will be dead. Once the Kochs and Bradleys accomplish this, there will be only serfs and masters living in a country of one-party rule.

Look around the world at countries with one-party rule such as Egypt, North Korea, China and scores of others where there is an elite ruling class, massive poverty, an often-brutal police/military system and people with no rights. If they succeed, it will mean the end of civil discussion through which our society learns from each other.

If you want that to happen, then you will believe that unions are the source of all evil. But while you believe that, please thank unions for your paid vacation, the 40-hour workweek, child-labor laws, every weekend off, every overtime dollar, health care, every protection from arbitrary dismissal and unfair treatment, everything that makes your working life tolerable.

These benefits were won because people stood together in union at risk to their own livelihoods and often their own lives.

If even the Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce thinks Walker has gone too far and the Wisconsin police are expressing their regret for having endorsed him, then perhaps the anti-union element in Santa Clarita should reconsider its position.
