The Master's College women's basketball team hoped to undo the poor finish it had to the regular season.

It turned out to be a rough finish in the postseason as well.

The Mustangs were outshot and out-rebounded in a 69-46 loss to California Baptist in the first round of the Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament on Wednesday.

It was the fourth loss in five games for TMC including the last four games of the regular season. It was also TMC's third loss of the season to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics No. 5-ranked Lancers, who came in as the No. 2 seed in the conference.

TMC (17-13) finished tied for sixth in the GSAC this season with a 10-10 conference record.

On Wednesday, the Mustangs were never in the game after falling behind 16-2 to start things off.

Sophomore guard Lena Rivera led the Mustangs with 14 points and 15 rebounds, and was the only player on the team to reach double figures in either category.

Ella Joines came the closest with seven points, while TMC's leading scorer on the season, senior Erica Inge, was limited to four points.

As a team, the Mustangs shot 29.5 percent and were outrebounded 52-36 in the contest.

At halftime, Cal Baptist (24-7) led 44-16 and never allowed its lead to drop below 25 points after that.

The Lancers were led by guard Brenna Hahn's 24 points and V.V. Vasciunaite's 17.
