The Castaic Lake Water Agency won its fifth consecutive award for having prepared an exceptional budget this year.

Valerie Pryor, administrative services manager, is credited with winning the national award for the agency.

"I am very pleased the Agency received the GFOA Budget Award for the fifth year in a row," Pryor said Thursday.

"The Agency's budget would not receive the award without the hard work of finance staff, the diligence the supervisors and project managers use in providing good financial information, and the support of the rest of the management team and the Board of Directors," she said.

The agency announced this week it received the distinguished Budget Presentation Award presented by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its budget for the fiscal year 2010/11.

The association rated the water agency's budget document as "proficient" in all four categories. The association determined that the CLWA budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.

The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional association serving 17,500 government finance professionals throughout North America. Its awards program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
