The man found dead Sunday near the Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library has been identified as Larry McElvany, 57, coroners officials said Friday.
A cause of death has not yet been determined.
McElvany was pronounced dead by paramedics at 11:40 a.m. Sunday near the library, said Craig Harvey, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner.
Medical examiners are waiting on the results of toxicology reports before ruling on a cause of death, Harvey said.
There was no indication that McElvany died of trauma, he said. Several empty beer bottles were found near his body, according to previous reports.
A person walking past the library called paramedics when they saw McElvany lying unconscious, Harvey said.
McElvany was well-known and well-liked among the local homeless community, said officials from the Santa Clarita Valley Emergency Winter Shelter. McElvany stayed at the shelter frequently this year.
