The Boy Scouts of America and event title sponsor Total Financial Solutions will honor well known Santa Clarita Valley residents Bob Kellar, Harold and Jacquie Petersen and Larry and Peggy Rasmussen at the Third Annual Santa Clarita Valley Leaders of Character Recognition dinner.

Bob Kellar is currently the Mayor of Santa Clarita, as well as a co-founding real estate broker in the firm of Kellar-Davis Real Estate. Kellar-Davis was started in June 2000 with the partnership of Mitch Davis and Kellar. Kellar, upon his retirement from the Los Angeles Police Dept. in 1993, began his real estate sales career in the SCV. Kellar is in his third term on the Santa Clarita city council and in his second term as mayor. Kellar is also a leader in the SCV nonprofit community and regularly hosts fundraisers at his Placerita Canyon home.

Harold Petersen is the president of Petersen International Underwriters and has maintained an active role in the SCV. He is a supporter of the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita, the Santa Clarita Child and Family Center, the UCLA Alumni Association and the Mary and Joseph League of Los Angeles.

In addition to Jacquie Petersen's involvement with Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita and the Santa Clarita Child and Family Center alongside Harold, she has given her time and generosity for causes associated with the American Red Cross, the John Tracey Clinic, which provides free medical services for children with hearing loss, the Junior League, the American Heart Fund and the American Cancer Society.

Larry and Peggy Rasmussen are also well known for their giving spirits. Larry Rasmussen is president of Spirit Properties, a Santa Clarita developer which more than 7 million square feet of real estate properties developed in the SCV. Spirit Properties is the developer of Centre Pointe, a 240-acre property in central Santa Clarita that will eventually be built out to 4.5 million square feet of property.

The Leaders of Character honor is presented annually to individuals and couples who personify the character, values and leadership demonstrated in the Boy Scout Oath and Law in their daily life.

The recipients will be honored at a dinner reception held in their honor at the Valencia Hyatt on Sept. 27.

The 2008 recipients join a growing and distinguished fraternity of community and business leaders that can be counted among the Santa Clarita Valley's Leaders of Character including past recipients: Gary and Myrna Condie, Carl and Jeri Goldman, Kevin and Marilyn Malone, Larry G. and Sue Makin, Dianne and Roger Van Hook and Jim Ventress.
