L.A. council’s weighing in on gay marriage

The Los Angeles City Council has gone on record in support of new federal legislation that would eliminate language defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman.

Without even a discussion, the council unanimously approved a resolution which calls marriage "a sacred, living symbol of the union between two members of the opposite or same sex."

This resolution is in support of a federal bill, HR 6115, introduced by self-described homosexual Rep. Barney Frank of Massachusetts, which would amend the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act to repeal the definition of marriage as a legal union between one man and one woman.

It is this bill that Barack Obama has proudly stated he would sign into law as one of his first acts as president.
With Californians about to vote on ballot initiative Proposition 8, seeking to restore the traditional meaning of marriage, which was affirmed eight years ago by more than 61 percent of the voters in Proposition 22, this is not the time for the L.A. City Council to take this arrogant position in support of a radical, social experiment!

For each council member to cowardly vote on this controversial issue without even publicly discussing is even more outrageous!
