To The Editor:

What a absolute waste of time and taxpayers money to change the names of existing streets in downtown Newhall. What is the purpose of doing that? As if it is not enough to go through the parking change in downtown Newhall, only to change it back. Do you think that maybe Newhall Hardware is closing and the other businesses are affected financially is because of these changes? And now $20,000.00 will go to the "name change project"?

How about a better idea! Take that money and put it toward another bungalow for the homeless, or stock the SCV Pantry, or maybe help with some childcare centers for low-income parents.

Oh, I have another great idea! Let's use that money to attract some upscale eateries to the Canyon Country side of town. We can give them a tax incentive of $20,000.00 to help with the start-up, since Canyon Country seems to be the red-headed stepchild of the SCV.

Do the City Council representatives ever talk to the people of the city to get their input or is it just willy nilly? Come on people, try prioritizing the important issues within the city. That's why you were voted in - to be our voice.
