Popular Santa Clarita Valley-based alternative rock-pop singer, songwriter, guitarist John Stratton and The Johnny Strat Band debut four brand new original and as-yet-unrecorded songs on "House Blend" with host Stephen K. Peeples on SCVTV Saturday, Feb. 12 at 10 p.m.

This special edition of the half-hour weekly local music and interview show is devoted solely to Stratton and his band.

SCVTV, community television for the Santa Clarita Valley, will premiere the show on Time Warner cable Channel 20 and AT&T U-Verse 99, and stream it live at for viewers out of the area.

The new songs are "Captivate Me," "She's My Kind of Rain," "All for You" and "Stand Strong."

Stratton is backed by Corey Waters - keyboards; Nick Kline - electric guitar; Charles Black - raps; Daniel Roberts - bass; Zach Hogan - drums; Keani Kahuhu - cello; and Kelsey Kepple - violin.

"I've been watching Mr. Stratton, now a sophomore music major at Azusa Pacific University, for the last couple of years, and he's now fulfilling the huge potential I first saw in 2008," said Peeples, a veteran music journalist, Grammy-nominated producer, and Signal online editor and entertainment writer.

"We were honored and humbled John chose 'House Blend' to premiere four brand-new songs, each worthy of attention far beyond the SCV. We know he and the band put a lot of effort into getting them right," Peeples said.

"These songs, John's band, and his interview set a new standard for the show. Our co-producer Megan Mann and the SCVTV production crew love these guys and their music, and it takes something special to get the crew that excited. John and his bandmates were delightful to work with -- cheerful, totally professional, and devoted to making John look and sound his best," Peeples said.

"Our SCVTV sound producer, Mike Mazzetti, is a pro who's seen it all, and he thought the band was worthy enough to bring in his biggest, best mixer and set them up with some of the same mics he used when he was a sound tech for Frank Sinatra," Peeples noted.

"As an artist, John Stratton is ready for liftoff. He has earned it. And it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. He loves, and is loved.

"I invite John's family, friends, fans, and music lovers anywhere to tune in or log on tonight. If you miss it, the show will be posted online at for on-demand viewing within a day or two after the premiere broadcast," Peeples said.
