Santa Clarita named finalist as business-friendly

Santa Clarita was named a finalist for the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation’s annual “Most Business Friendly City in L.A. County” award on Tuesday.

The other finalists for the 50,000 and over category are the cities of Cerritos, Glendale, Long Beach and Pasadena.
The winner is named during the 13th Annual Eddy Awards on Nov. 17 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.

The criteria for the selection includes a commitment to economic development, excellence in programs and services designed to facilitate business entry and economic development activity.

AdPros host Friday luncheon
The Advertising Professionals of North Los Angeles County (AdPros) hosts its monthly business luncheon at noon Friday at Salt Creek Grille, 24415 Town Center Drive in Valencia. The luncheon features the presentation “Networking Essentials” by Will Sherwood of The Sherwood Group. There is no cost for members but $30 for nonmembers.

Brave New World celebrates award
Brave New World Comics, 22722 Lyons Ave., Newhall, will celebrate its Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailing Award at 8 p.m. Friday at its Newhall location. The event includes live music, live comedy, food and a cake. The 18-year-old comic book store was named the winner of the international award during this year’s Comic-Con International in San Diego.
