It's not just that it keeps winning, the Saugus girls basketball team keeps winning in different ways.

Sometimes, it will beat teams in the paint, and other times it will do it with outside shooting.

In Friday night's 61-50 win over Hart at Saugus High School, the Centurions did a little bit of both.

"Obviously, when you've got scoring like that, it helps," said Saugus head coach Kent Eaton. "Everybody who played scored."

That made a total of eight different players scoring in Saugus' fourth straight Foothill League win.

Junior guard Jordan Oster led Centurions (12-13, 5-3) with 18 points, and teammate Megan Dawe followed with 13 points to go along with seven rebounds.

"The game plan was to guard Dawe and guard Oster and make the other girls beat us," said Hart head coach Zach Koebel. "Unfortunately, we went the other way."

Coming to into the second half leading 31-22, Saugus broke the game open with a 21-point third quarter, which was aided by three straight Oster shots from long range in three straight possessions midway through the period.

The Indians (13-11, 2-6) trailed 52-31 after the third, and made a small run in the final eight minutes.

Hart wasn't ever able to close the gap following an 11-1 Saugus run to open the game.

Mariah Glasshoff scored a game-high 20 points for Hart, and Christina Falcone added 11, but the Indians faltered on the defensive end.

"It's just one thing after the other," Koebel said. "The bottom line is we need to outscore teams, and we're not."

Saugus finds itself well in playoff contention after losing three of its first four league games.

"The confidence is rising," Eaton said. "The desire to compete is out there. I think the girls are starting to believe they can beat anyone out there."
