Prostitution sting nets 18 arrests in Castaic

County law enforcement arrested more than a dozen people during a prostitution sweep in Castaic on Thursday night.

Several county agencies collaborated in response to complaints of prostitution on Castaic Road, according to a statement released by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station officials.

Law enforcement officials arrested 18 people.

Fourteen males were arrested on suspicion of solicitation of prostitution. One of them faces an additional charge of sexual battery, according to the statement.

Two females were arrested on suspicion of loitering for prostitution. Two males were arrested on suspicion of interfering with a peace officer.

Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and the county's Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) team joined the Sheriff's Major Crimes Bureau's Vice Detail to conduct the "John" sting and prostitution sweep.

The investigations continue, and future operations will be conducted to deter this type of activity, according to the statement.
