Homicide detectives spent Monday trying to contact relatives and look for more clues in two Canyon Country hot tub drownings that left a man dead and a woman in the hospital.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's detectives arrived at the apartment complex on Rosehaven Avenue and Rue Entree in Canyon Country at 9:45 p.m. Friday.

Deputies found two people unconscious in the apartment complex hot tub, Det. Richard Lopez said. Both victims were rushed to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

Lin Sufan, a 51-year-old woman from Alhambra survived and remains in critical condition, Lopez said. The other victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. His name is being withheld pending notification of the family, Lopez said.

Homicide detectives took over the investigation immediately, Lopez said. There were no signs of foul play and no evidence of alcohol or drug abuse. Witnesses on scene were interviewed and according to their statements, the drowning appears to be an accident, Lopez said.
