Have you read a book that inspires you in business and life? A book or story that stirs you to become a better business owner, leader or person? A book that shows you how to build a solid foundation and grow your business? Or a book that you feel enhances leadership skills? Tell us about it.
Last week, the Book Synopsis featured a book recommended by Signal reader and columnist Ken Keller.
“Unbroken” told a fascinating tale of a young man, deemed an incorrigible delinquent, who channeled his defiance into running, discovering a talent that carried him to the Berlin Olympics and within sight of the 4-minute mile.
Later, as a WWII bombardier, his plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean in May 1943, leaving only thousands of miles ahead of open ocean, leaping sharks, a foundering raft, thirst and starvation and enemy aircraft. The young Army airman responded with desperation with ingenuity; suffering with hope, resolve and humor; brutality with rebellion. His fate, whether triumph or tragedy, was suspended on the fraying wire of his will.
“On Thursday evening, I cracked it open and could not put it down. I was up to midnight on Friday night reading it,” Keller said. “This is probably the single best book I have read in many years.”
