First place Mack Bailey Grade 5 Live Oak Elementary School 1. I will read more books this year. 2. I will study harder for school tests. 3. I will do better in science.
Second place Jairo Franco Grade 5 Live Oak Elementary School My New Year’s resolution is to always do my homework. So when I go home from school, I’ll get a snack and then I’ll do my homework. Then later I’ll play my PlayStation 3. Next month, I have a book report that I need to do, and that’s my other New Year’s resolution, to read more. So I better get prepared. But the most important one is studying. Every day I’ll study so I can learn all the facts.
Third place Hunter Rosenthal Grade 5 Live Oak Elementary School In the new year, my goals are getting fit, riding my bike more often, doing more of my homework and being more helpful around the house. My most important goal is to get really fit. Cleaning my room, too. Spend more time with my mom and dad. Help feed my dogs, Sparky and Pepe. That is all that I can accomplish.
Collin Grade 5 Live Oak Elementary School My New Year’s resolution is to get a 4 on “Chasing Vermeer.” I want to get at least three goals in soccer. On “World of Warcraft,” I want to get my guild to level 2. On “Black Ops,” reach level 20. On “Kill 2,” one Golden Boy Silver and Golden Boy Gold
Philip Stulman Grade 4 Charles Helmers Elementary School My New Year’s resolution is to get better grades in reading. What I have to do to get better grades in reading is study more, so on the tests I will get 100 percent. All I need to do is force myself to get better grades.
I do not know how to, but I will try to get good grades in reading. My one other New Year’s resolution is not watching too much TV. I really don’t like watching TV, but it is too addicting. I just have to watch it. I never watch TV during school days because I want to get my homework done first, and I do not want to stay up all night watching it. At school if my teacher, Mrs. Candib, puts on a little slide show, I have to watch it, but it doesn’t count. Those are all of my New Year’s resolutions.
Kelley Fredrickson Grade 4 Charles Helmers Elementary School My New Year’s resolution is to get better grades in school. I want to do this by not calling out, not talking in class and not trying to rush through school. Also, I do yell sometimes because I am a loud person. I chose this because I am not so good in class doing work and because I talk a lot.
Sean McCollum Grade 4 Charles Helmers Elementary School My New Year’s resolution is to be kinder to my brother. I will play with my dogs more often and give them a snack every day. Also, I will clean up my room when it gets messy. I will get better at school and help around the house.
What I would do the most is help around school. I chose all these resolutions because I want to be a kind, helpful person.
Kristen Kim Grade 4 Charles Helmers Elementary School My New Year’s resolutions this year are to exercise and to read more. I’m determined to finish the “Inkheart” trilogy before the school year is over.
In addition, I want to try to read the book “Scumble.” I think this resolution will be good for me because reading exercises your brain, and if you watch TV too much, your brain will rot.
For exercising, I’ll most likely try to play “Wii Fit” more often. I’ll also jump-rope more at school. I think this resolution is good for me because I’ll stay healthy, and I won’t get fat.
Kiana Kukaua Grade 4 Charles Helmers Elementary School My New Year’s resolution is to do better in school and make all my B’s to A’s. I want to do better in soccer too. I would like to get my homework done and then jump on my trampoline. In that case, better time management.
My other resolution is to get up when my mom wakes me up. I want to do all these things because sometimes I don’t always do my best. If I keep working hard, I think that I will pull through.
Christopher Franz Grade 4 Charles Helmers Elementary School My New Year’s resolution is to do my homework and bring it to school because I missed a lot of assignments. I also wanted to bring more bottles and cans to school for recycling because I didn’t bring a lot of bottles last year.
I will also do better at reading because I get frustrated in reading. I will promise to change all my grades to an A-plus because not all of my grades were at A-plus.
I will promise to come in early now instead of coming late because I sometimes miss some morning work.
I will also promise to pick up the dog droppings because I didn’t pick them up a lot.
I will promise to not fight my brother because I always fight with him. I choose these resolutions because I didn’t do them last year.
