Traffic detectives are looking for witnesses to a motor vehicle collision that killed a Canyon Country man late Thursday.

Rolando Imperial, 41, was riding his motorcycle westbound on Pleasantdale when an unidentified eastbound vehicle made a left turn and collided with him, a Los Angeles County detective said.

Imperial was pronounced dead at Henry Mayo Memorial Hospital succumbing to injuries suffered in the collision.

At about 4:55 p.m., deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station and emergency workers with the Los Angeles County Fire department responded to a collision involving a car and motorcycle operated by Imperial.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Pleasantdale Street and Deeptree Avenue, west of Whites Canyon Road in Canyon Country.

Speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash, said Sgt. Rich Cohen.

"Speed wasn't likely a factor ... there were no skid marks," he told The Signal Friday. "It appears the driver of the motorcycle was westbound on Pleasantdale. Another vehicle was eastbound on Pleasantdale and that vehicle turned in front of the motorcyclist to go north on Deeptree."

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station's Traffic Office is continuing its investigation.

Investigators have at least one witness but are hoping to speak with others who might have seen what happened, Cohen said.

Last month, Captain Anthony La Berge told The Signal that at least six other motorcyclists were killed in Santa Clarita Valley in the past 18 months.

Anyone who may have witnessed Thursday's incident should contact Detective Maag of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station at (661) 799-5112.
