In the desert area of Lancaster, Saugus beat Highland, 14-4, in girls tennis action.

Emily Wilson won her singles match, 6-2, 6-1. Yumi Suh beat her No. 2 opponent, 7-6, 6-1.

Christine Nguyen won 6-3, Kristina Cox beat her opponent 7-5.

The sister doubles team of Bea and Pilar Araujo won 6-0, 6-3, 6-2.

Christina Ballas and Megan Soucy won 6-2, 6-1, 6-1.

Mariah Aguinaldo and Rachel Marucuth beat their opponent, 6-2, 6-2.

West Ranch golf sinks Alemany
Sarah Kang was the medalist by shooting a 37 on Thursday as the West Ranch girls golf team beat Alemany, 205-229.

The Wildcats won their first match of the season at El Cariso Golf Course in Sylmar. Julia Sung shot a 39 on the par-31 course.

Vikings golf falls in four-way match
Valencia shot a 243 in a four-way match, finishing fourth to Westlake, who won with a 203. Royal shot a 212, Agoura a 241 on Thursday at Los Robles Golf Course in Thousand Oaks.

Katya Ortiz holed a 44 on the par-34 course for the Vikings (1-5). Sue Chang carded a 46.

Valencia girls lose in four to Dos Pueblos

Valencia's girls volleyball opened its season with a four-set loss at home against Dos Pueblos, 15-25, 14-25, 25-23, 18-25.

Katie Hank spiked 16 kills, Shelby LeDuff added 15. Kristina Worth led the Vikings in assists.

Indians pull off close one in tennis
Hart won a tiebreaker in a tight girls tennis match Thursday, beating Ventura in games, 88-71, after the score was tied at 9.

Anne Susdorf won 6-1, 6-0, 6-0.

Shelly Sachdeva won her No. 2 singles match, 6-2, 6-2, 4-6.

SCCS spikers win season opener
Santa Clarita Christian School won its season opener in girls volleyball, 25-12, 25-11, 25-22 over Holy Martyrs of Encino.

Hayley Morrison led the way for the Cardinals with 10 kills, seven digs and three service aces. Karla Eberlein had five kills. Kristina Gibson put up three kills and four aces.
