If Obamacare is broken, fix it, don’t just kill it

On Jan. 6, I read in The Signal and quote a statement attributed to Congressman Howard “Buck” McKeon, R-Santa Clarita: “We’re going to pass a rule to bring to the floor a bill to repeal Obamacare — the health care bill ...”

In this and all the other dialogue directed to the health bill by members of his political party, one cannot recall hearing the words “amend,” “restructure,” “revise,” etc.

Don’t fix it, kill it. That is their mantra. Evidently, they all believe health care is a nonissue for our citizens. I believe it is a matter of life and death for many.

On the other hand, in an Aug. 31 editorial in The Los Angeles Times, McKeon discussed continuing crucial support to Iraq after our U.S. combat forces withdraw.

“No!” to health care. “No!” to environmental protection. “No!” to consumer safeguards. “No!” to regulations to safeguard further irresponsible conduct by financial, energy and other special interests.

Is this what we wanted when we recently voted?
