There’s no denying global-warming truth

Once again, conservative Brian Baker has written a letter, which appeared in Thursday’s Signal, denying that mankind has anything to do with climate change.

Baker continues to argue that man has nothing to do with it, choosing to ignore the findings of the vast majority of scientists who study the matter.

From analyzing Antarctic ice, we know that the levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere have risen dramatically since 1750, about the time mankind began to put significant amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere from our industrial and agricultural activities.

While climate modeling is difficult, certain relatively recent events are indicative of these changes, including the decrease in snow pack and permafrost layers, receding glaciers, increased frequency of droughts, more precipitation events and rising sea levels.

Global warming doesn’t mean everywhere gets warmer, but as the earth warms, local climates will change. This change is likely to be catastrophic for many people on the planet.

However, to argue that this is some kind of liberal plot to redistribute wealth is just ridiculous.

While many scientists are indeed liberals, our goals have always been to practice good science, not to secretly spread our liberal agendas.
