Santa Clarita City Council members set aside $93,000 at a meeting Tuesday to pay for software needed to join a book-sharing co-op used by 73 library branches.

By joining the Inland Library Network, city residents will have access to more than 1 million books, CDs and DVDs when the city assumes control of the Canyon Country, Valencia and Newhall libraries from the Los Angeles County Public Library system on July 1, according to a statement.
