Valley has rich tradition of swimming champions

It was unfortunate that the otherwise excellent series on valley coaches by The Signal’s sports staff overlooked the swimming talent of both coaches and athletes in Santa Clarita.

Hart High School coach Steve Neale deserves far more credit than given.  Fifty-eight league titles appears to be far more than any other team in the valley, yet it was barely mentioned.

Swimming talent in the Santa Clarita Valley is rich with success in Hart graduate Anthony Ervin, an Olympic gold medalist; Jordan Danny, league champion now representing the University of Southern California and K.T. Livingstone, league champion now representing the University of California, Berkeley.

The success of these swimmers is due in part to the coaches, the unsung heroes of club and high school teams led by the ever-present Neale.
