Community leaders and parents interested in knowing what it’s like to run a school can now sign up for the annual Principal for a Day fundraiser slated for Feb. 11.

The 19th annual event, organized by the Santa Clarita Valley Education Foundation, kicks off with each participant spending a couple of hours with their chosen principal or district leader, followed by a catered luncheon with all of the principals, district administrators and supporters.

The luncheon at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex’s Activities Center will feature a panel discussion. All five local school-district superintendents will discuss the state of public schools.

Proceeds from Principal for a Day support the foundation’s educational outreach programs and student scholarships.

The tax-deductible donation to participate ranges from $150 for an elementary, junior high or middle school principal to $400 for a superintendent, with $200, $300 and $350 levels for administrators at other levels.

All five local school districts are involved in this event: William S. Hart Union High, Castaic Union, Saugus Union, Newhall and Sulphur Springs school districts.
