An 18-year-old Canyon Country man was arrested last week after he allegedly punched a Saugus man in the face and stole his car in Valencia, authorities said Monday.

Patrick Anthony Ibarra was arrested on Dec. 22 on suspicion of robbery and carjacking after the stolen car was recovered and an anonymous resident told authorities Ibarra was the alleged car thief, said Lt. Brenda Cambra of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

On Dec. 11, Ibarra allegedly went up to a man at the 24500 block of Town Center Drive and demanded he be given the man’s car keys and cash, Cambra said.

The man said the person who robbed him was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a bandana over his face.

Ibarra allegedly punched the man in the face and stole his car.

The man’s personal identification and a small amount of cash were in his car when it was stolen, Cambra said.

Days later an anonymous resident sent a tip to detectives identifying Ibarra as the suspected car thief.

Ibarra was arrested after detectives found the stolen car, she said.

Ibarra is being held at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on $100,000 bail, according to online arrest records.
