Library takeover deal stinks of outside money

The Santa Clarita City Council is needlessly interfering with our previously matchless library system.

The council is proving to be a free-wheeling group of elected officials. Libraries are a bottom line to them, as opposed to a haven for the literate in our community.

From what I’ve read in The Signal, the council has been considering a takeover of the libraries for quite some time. That must be one of those issues where one puts it out in the open and hopes no one notices.

So the city decides to get into the library business. And guess what? It has some company back East that can’t wait to accommodate it — for a price.

Who has been talking into the council’s ear, and for how long? It all smells of money, and the council always prevails. The people be danged.

Can election day come too soon?
