As the magical part of Christmas is ends, the residents of Santa Clarita Valley come back to their daily routine.
A big part of post-Christmas time is cleaning up and recycling.

Again this year, the city offers free curbside Christmas tree collection for recycling, continuing a newer tradition in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Residents in homes will have until Jan. 8 to place their unwrapped and undecorated trees at the curb on their regular collection day.

Multi-family residents should contact their building managers for information on designated areas for the program.

Trees can also be cut into smaller pieces and placed in green waste containers.

Participants of the recycling drive must remove all decorations, ornaments and lights from the tree.

The trees will be bagged for mulch, composted or used as a soil addition.

“Christmas trees, holiday gift wrapping and decorating can create extra trash, so it’s important to remember to reduce, reuse and recycle whenever possible,” Santa Clarita Mayor Marsha McLean said in a statement.

Additionally, Christmas trees can be dropped off at the Waste Management yard at no cost.

The yard is located at 25772 Springbrook Road. Its hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For details, call the city’s Environmental Services Division at (661) 286-4098.
