A horse was killed on Sierra Highway on Thursday morning after getting struck by a car and an SUV, authorities said.

The horse got loose from an adjacent property and wandered onto the street near Davenport, said Sgt. Jim Mair of the California Highway Patrol Newhall Station.

The horse was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado and a Scion xB.

One of the drivers suffered minor cuts and bruises after the horse hit the windshield. The other driver was not injured, Mair said.
