Members of the Sierra Hillbillies Square and Round Dance Club recently celebrated 43 years in the SCV.

The Sierra Hillbillies Square and Round Dance Club recently celebrated 43 years of teaching, dancing and promoting the American folkdance in the Santa Clarita Valley.

There were more than five squares on the floor enjoying the calls by John Reitmajer and round dance cues by Cindy Mower. The club dances the second Friday each month at the SCV Senior Center.

Club members are also celebrating the first-time addition of their square dance lessons to the adult dance class offerings of the Santa Clarita Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department on Tuesday evenings from 7:15-9:15 p.m. starting Jan. 11, at Valencia Meadows Park, 25671 Fedala Road in Valencia.

The instructor will be Rod Shuping. For more information, contact President Alan Willis at hillbillies.pres@gmail.com or call (661) 298-7794.
