UPDATED: Cowboy Festival rides into Melody Ranch April 27-May 1

Tickets on sale now; host hotels announced

Tickets are now on sale for the 18th annual Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival, which rides into Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio and other venues in the Santa Clarita Valley from April 27 to May 1.

General admission tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children. A special two-day weekend pass is available for $30 for adults and $15 for children.

The city offers a limited number of "Friends of the Festival" packages, which includes admission to Melody Ranch for both Saturday and Sunday, preferred seating at all Melody Ranch Stage shows and all-weekend access to the Melody Ranch VIP Bunkhouse. Weekend Passes and Friends of the Festival packages must be purchased by April 15, 2011.

Both behind-the-scenes tours of Melody Ranch have sold out.

The city of Santa Clarita, which stages the annual event, extends special thanks to the Veluzat family, owners of Melody Ranch, for welcoming the community to their spectacular home, which is steeped in local Western movie history.

As always, the Cowboy Festival will feature the best in Western gear, food, clothing, and living history exhibits as well as outstanding performers like Hot Club of Cowtown, Wylie and the Wild West, Don Edwards, and The Sons of the San Joaquin. The festival will also feature a Cowboy Couture show on Wednesday, April 27 at the Repertory East Playhouse, the Santa Clarita Valley Film Tour, and the chuckwagon Dinner Show on April 28 at the Heritage Junction with behind the scenes stories from renowned stuntmen, Diamond Farnsworth and Loren Janes.

Returning to our Main Stage are past festival favorites Waddie Mitchell, Sourdough Slim, Belinda Gail and Larry Maurice as well as award winning songwriters Andy Wilkinson and Andy Hedges.

Poet Chris Isaacs will spin tales of the West and the Battalion Band of California will make their Main Stage debut.

Making his first appearance at the Cowboy Festival is renowned Colorado songwriter Chuck Pyle, "The Zen Cowboy."

Returning to the Medicine Show Stage are saloon pianist David Bourne, master magician Whit Haydn and banjo master John Reynolds.

The California Music Hall stage will feature many of the Main Stage acts, and the festival continues a new tradition in 2011 with the Heritage Stage featuring Western, Native American and Hispanic song and dance.

Friday, April 29 events are filling up quickly; the Don Edwards show at Rancho Camulos, Bob Boze Bell’s Wyatt Earp talk at the Repertory East Playhouse, and Movie Night at Melody Ranch with dinner catered by the Epicurean Cowboy and a screening of "Stagecoach" at the Ranch.

Tickets are still available for Wylie Gustafson's solo appearance at Hart Mansion. It's It's a rare chance to see Wylie in a solo performance in the intimate setting of William Hart's living room.

Festival goes paperless
Although the city will not mail festival brochures this year, patrons on the mailing list will soon receive a postcard with website and contact information. Patrons will be able to access all the information they need via the website, including a downloadable brochure, show schedules, performer links and bios.

Host hotel and partners
As many attendees are from out of town, the festival has partnered with local hotels to offer discounted rates on accommodations. Be sure to mention the Cowboy Festival when booking for their special rate.
