With Proposition 8 expected to appear on the November ballot, the definition of marriage has been at the center of a controversy in California.

If passed, the proposition would amend the California Constitution to limit marriage between a man and a woman.

In light of the ongoing discussion, churches from the Santa Clarita Valley will gather at 5 p.m. on Sunday at Grace Baptist Church to discuss the definition of marriage, the importance of sexuality and the challenge of purity.

Speakers will address the theological, cultural and legal implications of these issues under the question, “What does the Bible say?”

The forum, sponsored by Grace Baptist, Heart of the Canyons Church, Royal Oaks Community Church of Stevenson Ranch and Copperhill Community Church, will give speakers the opportunity to call the Christians of the Santa Clarita Valley to a renewed commitment to the biblical definition of marriage as a faithful and lifelong union between one man and one woman, to live out this commitment in their personal lives and to express that commitment publicly in a clear and loving manner. Everyone is invited to attend.

Grace Baptist Church is located at 22833 Copper Hill Drive. For more information, contact Grace Baptist at (661) 296-8737.
