As Santa Clarita children head back to school, the Hart district also wants to give their parents a chance to experience life in the classroom during its Back-to-School Night events.

It’s an opportunity for parents of students in the William S. Hart Union High School District to visit classrooms, get acquainted with teachers, learn classroom rules and to experience first-hand the campuses where their sons and daughters spend their days.

“The parents follow the kids’ schedules, so it’s a chance for parents to meet the teachers and get their homework and grading policies,” said Pat Willett, Hart district spokeswoman. “You can find out what your child is going to be learning this year in this class and why they’re in it.”

Some schools offer refreshments or the opportunity to buy food as a fund-raiser for campus activities. Some showcase their performing arts groups or have tables for sports teams and extracurricular groups to sell spirit wear.

“Sometimes clubs and organizations will also set up booths in the quad with information,” Willett said.

Parents should look for information coming home from school, or call their child’s school for information about Back-To-School Night.
