Due to an editor’s error, a front-page story in Tuesday’s Signal on a city and county agreement misrepresented the amount of money the city of Santa Clarita will contribute to the Los Angeles County Public Library system for a Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library renovation effort.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved accepting almost $1.2 million from the city of Santa Clarita for the renovation.

The city has agreed to pay the county $622,600 toward the renovation effort. Of that amount, $522,600 will pay for the project’s completion, and the other $100,000 partially pays the county back for work already done, Santa Clarita Deputy City Manager Darren Hernandez said.

The city has the option of buying new materials and fixtures the county already bought for the Canyon Country library. Those materials cost about $436,000.

Rounding out the $1,188,100 city contribution is $129,500 in county developers’ fees from areas now annexed into the city.
