Recovery Center’s proposed site ridiculous

Dear Mayor, City Council and Public Works director:
This letter is written to vehemently oppose the proposed placement of the Materials Recovery Center at the expense of the natural environment. The Gate-King Industrial Park site is an unsuitable location for this facility.

No responsible public entity would approve a “recovery center” proposing to destroy 600 valuable oak trees and a portion of Newhall Creek, both essential to achieving sustainable wildlife habitat in your area of responsibility.

This proposal is counter to the intention and letter of the law as stated in California-approved laws adopted by the Legislature and signed by respective governors. California is never going to stabilize its climate with proposed actions such as this.

Please vote against this ridiculous proposal. Please renew and implement your responsibilities to protect the Santa Clara River watershed and its tributaries, not to mention your investment of $6 million to purchase a portion of the Elsmere Canyon wildlife corridor.

Thank you for your consideration.
