I hope everyone is still stuffed with turkey and all the fixings from a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I don’t think there is anything better than turkey sandwiches made from real turkey!

A Possumtown Christmas
The judges of The Signal’s 16th annual Holiday Light Tour to crown the world champion of lights will be roaming the streets of the Santa Clarita Valley beginning 4 p.m. on Dec. 11. Have you entered your street or home?

Send light-tour entries to mbuttelman@the-signal.com with the words “Holiday Light Tour” in the subject line. Include your address, cross street, phone and bribes judges can expect (of the hot cocoa and cookies variety!) Entry forms (for those who want to do it old school) are available in Friday’s Escape section and can be submitted at the front desk of The Signal at 24000 Creekside Road, Valencia.

The Shoe Project
Visit the Newhall Art Walk, on Main Street in downtown Newhall, 4-7 p.m. Thursday to see The Shoe Project. Twelve artists were selected to create artistic shoes to display in various businesses in downtown Newhall. See if you can find all 12. In addition, discover shoe creations displayed throughout Art Walk. At the Art Walk event, children, adults and families are invited to create a special shoe using art supplies and shoes supplied by The ARTree. Residents are also asked to bring slightly worn shoes to put in donation boxes along Main Street. The shoes will find new homes in needy families by the Assistance League of Santa Clarita Valley. For more information, visit www.theartree.org.

Literacy and Arts Fest
The fourth annual Santa Clarita Literacy and Arts Festival will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, in Newhall Park, 24933 Newhall Ave., Newhall. This event includes a day of entertainment, activities and fun in a delightful atmosphere, where all ages can share the fun of books, the charms of music and the intrigues of art. Guests will enjoy activities that include a giant jigsaw puzzle, ice sculptures, rock balancing, a story village, The Great Shoe Hunt, crafts, vendors, food and more.
Festival of Trees

Another year, another fabulous and spectacular Festival of Trees. I’m always so sad when it is over. Kudos to Ronda Chobanian, Suzanne Benty, and the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley Foundation staff for their hard work on the event, in addition to the Festival Executive Committee: Gary and Myrna Condie, Barbara C. Morris, Anna Ott and Jim Ventress.
