A man died after he allegedly drove his Ford Escort through a red light Friday at the intersection of Hillsborough Parkway and Decoro Drive in Valencia and collided with a Toyota Sienna minivan that was carrying a mother and son, authorities said.

The name of the man that died was not released Saturday because his next of kin had not yet been notified, said Lt. Mark Hershey of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The man driving the Ford Escort was driving northbound on Hillsborough Parkway when he allegedly ran through a red light and collided with a Toyota Sienna minivan that was traveling eastbound on Decoro Drive at 6:12 p.m., according to a statement from the Sheriff’s Station.

The man died from injuries he sustained after he was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. A mother and son who were in the minivan were transported to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, according to the statement.

The collision is still being investigated, and witnesses are being asked to call detectives at (661) 799-5112.
