A transient woman in Canyon Country, who had been reported missing July 28, has been found by Sheriff's deputies, a Sheriff's Department spokeswoman said this morning.

Susan Riley is a homeless woman who is usually seen pulling a red wagon near Soledad Canyon Road and Sierra Highway. Riley's mother reported the 44-year-old woman missing and authorities spent weeks looking for her, Detective Diane Harris said.

The Signal ran a front page story on Monday notifying the public Riley had been reported missing. The Sheriff's Department Homicide Division, Missing Persons Detail was soon flooded with more than 20 phone calls, Harris said.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station deputies contacted the missing person bureau on Tuesday and reported that deputies had been in contact with Riley as recently as Friday, Harris said.

"This is a difficult situation for many families with homeless relatives," Harris said.

Often times homeless people suffer from mental health issues and can go missing for long periods of time, she said.

Harris thanked the community for its help in finding Riley.
