Vikings duo part of Elite

Valencia shortstop Christian Lopes and outfielder Dylan Jones were selected to compete with the Dodgers Elite baseball team.
Lopes and Jones are among players from Southern and Northern California, Arizona and Nevada selected to compete on one of the four Elite teams.
The tandem's squad finished second in Saturday's competition which also included a guest appearance from Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda.
Both Lopes and Jones will return to the Vikings team in the spring.
Lopes, a sophomore, finished with a .408 batting average, went 40-for-98 with 24 RBI and 10 home runs for the Valencia last season while Jones went 41-for-88 with a .466 batting average, 22 RBI and three home runs.

Kick-Start
Hart graduate and current Cal State Bakersfield freshman Sarina Coutin was a huge factor in the Roadrunners' 2-1 win in double overtime against the University of Idaho on Friday.
Coutin came off the bench to score the team's first goal in the 39th minute of the game.
While playing for the Indians, Coutin was a two-time Foothill League MVP and was named all-league four times.
Marina Constantinou, a Saugus graduate, finished with three saves against the Vandals of Idaho.

The Next Level
Five players from Canyon's girls varsity soccer 2005 Foothill League championship team are continuing their success at colleges around the country.
Nini Loucks is entering her final season with USC. Loucks, who will return this season after knee surgery, appeared in 11 games with four starts last season before her injury in the Trojans Pac-10 opener.
Shannon Omahen, the 5-foot-4 defender, will start her senior year at Loyola Marymount after a satisfying 2007. Omahen started in 12 of 15 games, scored one goal with two assists. Omahen also assisted in game-winning goals against Cal State Fullerton and San Francisco.
Lauren Moniz, in her fourth season with the San Jose State Spartans, was named a co-captain for the 2008 season.
Brianna Caceres appeared in 18 of the University of Arizona's 20 games last season. She attempted a career high five shots, placing three on goal ending her season with a .600 SOG%.
And Lauren McClelland is entering her senior season with the Illinois Institute of Technology Scarlet Hawks.

Royal Season
Hart grad Michael Montgomery is still going strong in his major league career.
Montgomery has a seasonal ERA of 1.43 and hitters are batting .209 against him.
With his short season minor league debut coming to a close, the 6-foot-5 southpaw is currently 2-1 with 31 strikeouts in 11 games, eight of those being saves.
