Ventura County Sheriff's deputies are still looking for a 39-year-old Los Angeles man who apparently drowned in Lake Piru after trying to save his 5-year-old daughter Monday evening, said Capt. Ross Bonfiglio.

Anatoly Smolyaski was boating with his three children at approximately 5:45 p.m., when his youngest daughter fell into the water, Bonfiglio said.

The girl was wearing a life jacket. Smolyaski jumped in after the girl and assisted her back in the boat. As he lifted the girl into the boat, Smolyaski slipped under the water and never resurfaced, Bonfiglio said.

Ventura County Sheriff's Department dive teams resumed searching for Smolyaski's body in Lake Piru Tuesday morning. As of 11:45 a.m. a body had not been located, Bonfiglio said.
