The former Canyon Country High School volunteer coach accused of sexual assault is due back in court for a preliminary hearing Tuesday.

Kevin Thomas was arrested June 10 and charged with five counts of sexual penetration of person under 18 years of age, five counts of sexual penetration with a foreign object with the alleged victim unconscious of the act, one count of performing a lewd act on a child and one count of possession of child pornography.

The 40-year-old teaching assistant was a volunteer coach at Canyon High School, and was arrested June 10 after several girls at Birmingham High School said they were sexually assaulted by Thomas.

Investigators have reported that several videotapes of the assaults were in Thomas' possession.

On July 21, investigators with the Sheriff's Department's Special Victims Bureau reported that two more girls accused Thomas of assaulting them. While none of Thomas' accusers were from Santa Clarita, he had been giving lessons to three girls on the Canyon High basketball team.

Thomas is being held at Men's Central Jail in Los Angeles in lieu of $600,000 bail.
