A 25-year-old man remained hospitalized in fair condition on Monday after being hit by a pickup truck late Friday night.

Kellee Roth was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in critical condition after was hit while operating a hand-held foot scooter, said Officer John Lutz of the California Highway Patrol’s Newhall Station.

Shortly before 10 p.m. Friday, Brian Lindsey, 24, who was identified by CHP investigators as the driver of a 2007 Ford Ranger pickup truck, was headed southbound on Ridge Route Road near Elk Ridge Road, near Castaic Lagoon, when the collision occurred, Lutz said.

The truck was travelling at a slow speed, he added.

Roth, who was identified by investigators, was also travelling southbound on Ridge Route Road, riding his scooter when he was hit, Lutz said.

“At this time it is unclear whether (Roth) was on the sidewalk or riding in lanes of traffic prior to the collision,” Lutz told The Signal.

“He was not wearing reflective clothing or had any lights to illuminate him,” he added. “He was struck by the right front end of the vehicle.”

The investigation was ongoing.
